In this role you will serve as a key resource for transmission and interconnection activities from a market perspective. Your primary responsibilities will include evaluation of transmission opportunities & constraints, pricing, congestion, and curtailment risk to support greenfield project development.
⚡ You will play an important role in:
- Work with leadership and internal/external stakeholders to grow the company's portfolio through the identification of new transmission and interconnection opportunities in various target markets (PJM, MISO, NYISO, IESO, HydroQuebec).
- Design the best strategy for project interconnection using analytical tools and methods.
- Management of budget, schedule, and quality to ensure successful completion of power system studies projects.
- Develop a thorough understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection options for projects, and the related costs, benefits, and challenges for each option.
- Actively attend ISO/RTO market stakeholder meetings and stay up-to-date with ISO/RTO market changes in terms of system and resource outlooks.
- Create and maintain relationships that encourage collaboration and respect with the ISO/RTO.
- Manage ISO/RTO portals, applications, and submissions.
- Monitor tariff and policy changes and track key transmission upgrades in target markets.
- Effectively manage 3rd-party resources to conduct technical and economic evaluation studies of Solar, Wind, and Energy Storage projects.
- Clearly communicate any commercial risks to the Development team and senior management, as appropriate.
- Conduct regular update meetings with the Development teams.
- Support the Origination and Commercial team with RFPs for power purchase agreements.
💡 To succeed in this position, you need:
- 10-15 years industry experience in the renewable (Developer) and transmission space (ISO, Transmitter, Consultant)
- 5+ years of transmission and interconnection planning experience.
- Ability to use proficiently Siemens PSS/E, PowerGEM TARA or other Powerflow software.
- Python programming experience is considered an asset
- PSCAD EMT modelling experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of regulatory and market issues specific to transmission.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
- Thorough attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects.
