Sports Marketing Business Unit Manager

The Breakdown:
Manage global business operations for the Sports Marketing team which includes Athletes/Ambassadors, Events, and Partnerships. Provide exceptional service to athletes, agencies, vendors and staff. Oversee contracts, budgets, and tax reporting, and ensure compliance with company and legal standards. This role reports to the head of Sports Marketing and works closely with cross-functional Marketing peers, Legal, and Accounting.
What you get to do:
Contract Management:
- Develop and manage contracts for athletes, ambassadors, partnerships, sponsorships, and events for Burton & Anon; and ensure legal compliance across all regions.
- Provide expert guidance on contract matters, negotiations, and legal interpretations to each division of the Sports Marketing team.
- Oversee contract creation, distribution, tracking, and payment processes, including tax withholding and vendor setup for all Sports Marketing verticals.
- Manage contract lifecycles (options, expirations, terminations), insurance, and visa documentation.
- Maintain accurate records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure strong relationships with all stakeholders.
- Advise on athlete endorsement usage rights and collaborate with Legal on contract issues.
Budget Management & Reporting:
- Develop and manage budgets for Athletes/Ambassadors, Partnerships, and Events; and ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting procedures.
- Provide budget guidance to Sports Marketing teams for transparent cost tracking.
- Monitor financial transactions, submit variance and forecast reports, and review and approve expense reports.
- Manage Invoice Process (review, adjust, resolve, authorize, submit)
- Handle journal adjustments, accruals, and prepaid submissions.
Management Conduct:
- Demonstrate leadership and conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times
- Provide mentoring and coaching to department staff and others
- Collaborate with others to ensure the effective fulfillment of department and company objectives, goals, etc.
- Act as expert resource for processes and knowledge area & transfer knowledge to others
- Community service/involvement
- Attend events, competitions, and meetings as needed or assigned

- Brings a highly analytical and detail-oriented approach to Sports Marketing operations, with proven experience in managing complex budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships, coupled with strong interpersonal skills to foster collaborative team environments.
