Job Title : Senior Manager - Business Intelligence

Years of Experience : 13+ years

Location : Chennai One (IT Park) – Thoraipakkam

Job Summary/Objective

Provides leadership and guidance to the teams, managers, associate managers and direct reports within their area. Manages high level capacity and team assignments, department workflows, and ensures their teams are positioned to meet established deliverables. Collaborates across global technical and product teams, internal and external, to plan, source and deliver solutions. Interfaces with and provides technical direction to business unit leaders on product roadmaps. Coaches and develops direct reports.

Key Responsibilities & Duties (essential to the job)

  1. Leads and motivates the team, setting individual and group goals and expectations. Ensures clarity around priorities and timelines. Ensures daily activities are aligned with strategic goals.
  2. Develops staff to achieve departmental objectives which assists in the company’s growth and the employee’s career development. Provides timely feedback on performance through informal and formal review discussions.
  3. Assists with department budget, and develops budget recommendations and proposals.
  4. Assists with or may be responsible for developing and implementing the overall strategic plan for area of responsibility.
  5. Manages project/product activities including design, implementation, and maintenance of multiple product modules/sub-systems. Develops and implements procedures and controls to guide developmental activities of various projects within Data Solutions.
  6. Identifies resource requirements for development activities, and manages multiple concurrent related activities. Suspends and resumes activities as priorities shift, and quantifies risk when contingency planning is needed.
  7. Serves as the primary liaison between Technology teams and other departments within OEC when working to achieve goals on a specific product line.
  8. Maintains accountability for teams’ problem verification and resolution, release testing, and support for assigned products.
  9. Participates in, facilitates, and leads team (internal) and client (external) meetings to set expectations, review timeline and goals, and delegate project responsibility.
  10. Removes barriers for team members on a proactive basis, and researches and resolves roadblocks that may arise during development activities.

Education

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a focus in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline. In the absence of a degree, equivalent work experience directly related to the key responsibilities of the role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.

Experience, Skills and Key Competencies 

At least 11 years of progressively responsible experience in a software development environment managing application development projects, and a minimum 3 years of management experience with responsibility for leading a team of direct reports.

Must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and create an engaging and positive culture that motivates and inspires others to do great work, and leads to successful project completions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish collaborative working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solid project management skills, with the ability to effectively suspend and resume activities as priorities shift.
  • Excellent understanding of all phases of the application development process.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced global environment, manage through ambiguity and complexity, and support multiple, simultaneous projects.
