Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker is primarily responsible for the overall upkeep of the hotel’s building, grounds, and operational systems. This includes ensuring all equipment and systems are functioning efficiently and safely, with minimal downtime. Responsibilities include day-to-day repairs, preventative maintenance, and timely completion of work orders from all departments, following hotel standard operating procedures.

As a Maintenance Worker, You Will:

Perform regular maintenance tasks to keep guest rooms and hotel facilities in top condition for comfort and safety.

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC and plumbing.

Complete preventative maintenance programs (e.g., “room care”).

Maintain and service the hotel pool, including chemical balancing and filter cleaning.

Respond promptly and courteously to guest and staff maintenance requests.

Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of mechanical areas.

Maintain neat and accurate records of all work completed.

Support groundskeeping duties including painting, gardening, and curb appeal tasks.

Ensure a safe and hazard-free environment for guests and associates by following all safety and emergency procedures.
Essential Job Functions

The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and lighting.

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance tasks throughout the property.

Maintain the building’s exterior including landscaping, painting, and minor repairs.

Record all maintenance activities and complete required documentation.

Adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures.

Report any unsafe conditions, injuries, accidents, or property damage to management.

Maintain a professional appearance and assist other Engineering team members as needed.

Carry out other tasks or duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, and mechanical systems.

Skill in troubleshooting and repairing hotel equipment and systems.

Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.

Knowledge of safety hazards and best practices in a maintenance environment.

Ability to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written).

Customer service skills, with the ability to calmly interact with guests and team members.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Familiarity with hotel layout, including rooms and function spaces.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational/technical training in related fields a plus.

Previous experience in hotel or commercial maintenance is preferred but not required.

Ability to read and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb throughout the duration of the shift.

Work in a variety of environmental conditions including hot, cold, wet, or noisy areas.

Ability to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 100 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders and stairs (up to 30 feet).

Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and physical movement.

Strong hand-eye coordination, grasping, and dexterity.
