Job Summary
The Security Guard is responsible for monitoring and patrolling hotel property to ensure the safety and security of all guests, team members, and hotel assets. This position helps maintain a safe environment by executing protective and enforcement duties in a courteous and professional manner while effectively responding to emergencies, disturbances, and other threats to life or property.

As a Security Guard, You Will:

Be responsible for the safety and security of all property, guests, and staff.

Patrol the hotel interior and exterior—including stairwells, parking lots, and public areas—to detect safety or security issues.

Respond immediately and appropriately to emergencies, disturbances, or suspicious activity.

Communicate via two-way radio, telephone, and pager to coordinate responses.

Maintain order and provide guest assistance, including lockouts or disturbances.

Enforce hotel policies and applicable laws in a calm and respectful manner.

Escort guests and staff as needed, particularly when transporting valuables or navigating dark areas.

Respond to and investigate incidents, accidents, and complaints, and complete incident reports accurately.

Receive and manage lost and found items; respond to guest inquiries regarding lost property.

Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures, fire alarms, pull stations, extinguishers, and sprinkler systems.

Assist other departments, including Front Desk operations, as needed.
Essential Job Functions

The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Spend a majority of the shift on foot patrol.

Respond quickly and effectively to alarms, emergency calls, or safety concerns.

Use CPR or other emergency techniques when necessary (bending, kneeling, lifting may be required).

Answer safety hotlines and emergency calls promptly and clearly.

Maintain accurate, legible records of all incidents, actions, and follow-ups.

Monitor surveillance systems and life safety equipment.

Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and appearance standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

High school diploma or equivalent required; prior military or law enforcement experience is preferred.

Two years of experience in security, loss prevention, or a related field preferred.

CPR, First Aid, and TIPS certifications required (or must be obtained upon hire).

Knowledge of hotel layout, including guest rooms, function rooms, and building exits.

Ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with a range of guests and situations professionally.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required; additional languages are a plus.

Proficient in using computers, printers, telephones, and radios.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and document incidents thoroughly.
Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods during an entire shift.

Ability to climb stairs and ladders quickly in emergency situations.

Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking between hotel buildings.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and assist with moving individuals or emergency equipment.

Hearing and vision sufficient to detect signs of distress or emergency.
