Director of Engineering
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Engineering oversees all engineering operations, including emergency procedures, maintenance programs, equipment repair, and energy management. This position is responsible for leading the Engineering team, budgeting, asset protection, and compliance with brand standards and regulations. Works closely with the General Manager to ensure operational excellence and achievement of financial and service goals.

BUSINESS RESULTS
- Directs Engineering operations and ensures adherence to brand standards
- Maintains preventative maintenance programs and asset protection
- Ensures compliance with safety, sanitation, and emergency procedures
- Coordinates with GM and external agencies on safety and liability matters
- Submits budget recommendations and capital plans
GUEST SATISFACTION
- Ensures high service levels and guest satisfaction
- Responds to guest issues and monitors feedback
- Sets positive example for guest relations
- Implements service improvements based on guest feedback
LEADERSHIP
- Leads with Driftwood Hospitality values
- Holds team accountable for results
- Addresses conflicts and encourages improvement
- Makes informed decisions in a timely manner
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
- Conducts regular 1:1s and maintains open communication
- Ensures proper documentation and reporting
- Conducts property inspections and addresses improvement areas
- Assists with special projects as assigned
TALENT MANAGEMENT
- Recruits, hires, and develops engineering staff
- Oversees training, evaluations, and recognition programs
- Implements disciplinary actions as needed
- Communicates business goals and expectations
ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING
- Supports learning and development initiatives
- Maintains a positive and professional work environment
- Conducts departmental meetings
- Communicates plans and changes effectively across departments
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Experience:
- 5+ years in building management/engineering; hospitality preferred
- 3+ years in a managerial role
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Knowledge of budgeting and contract negotiation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, and stand for long periods
- Requires visual and hearing acuity
- Must be comfortable working in varying environmental conditions
