The Opportunity
Flow Beverages is seeking a meticulous and proactive General Accountant to join our finance team at our Aurora manufacturing facility. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of our financial records, ensuring strict adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and supporting the efficient operations of a dynamic CPG company.
Key Responsibilities
As a General Accountant, your primary duties will include:
- Daily & Core Accounting Operations:
- Perform daily bank reconciliations with exceptional accuracy, promptly identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
- Manage and reconcile prepaid expenses and security deposits, ensuring proper IFRS accounting treatment and systematic amortization.
- Review and accurately process employee expense reports, verifying compliance with company policies and assigning correct general ledger classifications.
- Provide essential support for Accounts Payable (AP) functions, including invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and payment preparation.
- Provide essential support for Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, including cash application, monitoring collections, and maintaining accurate customer ledgers.
- Month-End, Reporting & Compliance:
- Actively participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing and posting journal entries, and performing thorough general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare and post monthly accruals to accurately reflect financial obligations and expenses.
- Contribute to the timely preparation of financial statements and reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Assist with the accurate preparation and timely filing of various Canadian tax returns and remittances (e.g., HST, EHT), ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Support the Accounting Manager in maintaining robust internal controls and ensuring financial data integrity.
- Financial Systems & Data Management:
- Utilize Xero accounting software proficiently for daily transactions, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Support the extraction and analysis of financial data from our ERP system and analytics solution, contributing to insightful financial reporting and decision-making.
- Identify and contribute to implementing continuous process improvements within accounting workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Audit & Ad-hoc Support:
- Prepare comprehensive documentation and provide support for internal and external audits, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process.
- Undertake other customary junior accounting tasks and ad-hoc financial projects as required to support the finance department's objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of progressive experience in an accounting role, with a strong preference for candidates from the manufacturing or CPG sectors.
- Solid understanding and practical application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proven proficiency in Xero accounting software is required.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and business intelligence tools (e.g., MicroStrategy) is an asset.
- Experience with Canadian tax compliance (e.g., HST, EHT filings) is essential.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and data analysis).
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative team-oriented approach.

Salary : 60,000 Canadian Dollars (may increase depends on experience)
