Work Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts- Nights
Position Summary
• Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse provides both direct and indirect professional nursing care that is safe, effective, and patient-centered.
• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the healthcare needs of all assigned patients
• Caring for a patient population ranging from infants to geriatrics, unless otherwise specified
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve unit and hospital goals
• Adhering to practice standards and guidelines specific to the assigned area(s)
• Flexibility to float to other comparable units, as needed
Qualifications & Leadership Responsibilities
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and professional practice guidelines
• Competency in department-specific skills; able to act as a resource and mentor
• Active involvement in unit leadership and improvement initiatives
• Effective in interdepartmental collaboration to provide coordinated, patient-focused care
• Skilled in communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership
• Participation in ongoing leadership development courses
• Ability to educate team members on new policies, best practices, and regulatory changes
• Willingness to perform other department-specific tasks as assigned
• Support in monitoring staff performance and competencies
• Capable of assigning and delegating care tasks based on staff skill, experience, and knowledge
• Strong initiative and ability to lead independently within scope of practice
• Sound judgment in high-pressure or complex situations
• Demonstrated discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information
• Availability to work irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays, based on unit needs
Education & Certifications
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
• BLS certification – required at hire
• NRP certification – required prior to end of orientation
• ACLS certification – required within 6 months of hire
• AWHONN fetal monitoring certification
• STABLE certification – preferred
• Advanced certification in specialty area and/or participation in professional organizations is encouraged
