Work Schedule: Three 12-hour Shifts
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse provides safe, effective, and professional nursing care—both direct and indirect—for assigned patients. This role includes:
• Full responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for a diverse patient population (from infant to geriatric, unless otherwise specified)
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to support unit and hospital goals
• Delivering care that adheres to practice standards and clinical guidelines
• Flexibility to float to other comparable nursing units, as requested
Qualifications

• Knowledge of general nursing theories and practices
• Previous hospital experience preferred
• Demonstrates the ability to motivate and supervise others
• Utilizes initiative and independent judgment within the scope of professional nursing
• Skilled at evaluating alternatives in difficult situations and making sound decisions
• Understands the importance of accuracy in orders, medications, and procedures, and the potential impact of errors
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Exercises tact and diplomacy when interacting with physicians, patients, and families
• Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information
• Willing and able to work irregular shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Able to step into the Charge Nurse role when needed
Education & Certifications
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
• One year of Women’s Surgical Services experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Completion of nursing service orientation program
• Completion of IV Therapy training or demonstrated IV competency within one year
• Participation in annual Skills Fair and hospital competency training
• Maintains current department-specific competencies and/or certifications
• BCLS certification required at hire
• NRP certification required or obtained during orientation
• STABLE certification preferred
• Advanced certification in specialty area and/or active membership in professional organizations encouraged
