Job Description

Job Summary

Performs routine technical and clerical functions. Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; may perform CLIA waived laboratory tests. Responsibilities Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens, labels tubes and specimen containers, collects specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.  Certification as a phlebotomist preferred.
      
Experience: Inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy experience is required. Hospital laboratory experience is preferred. 

Skills Required:
•     Ability to complete blood draws, independently, within six weeks of hire (inpatient and/or outpatient depending upon location, shift, etc.)
•     Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with all personnel of lab/hospital.
•     Manual dexterity, physical health, and visual acuity to perform phlebotomy, accession laboratory specimens, process specimens, and manage any information technology related tasks.
