General Summary:
The Hand Institute is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to join our specialized team. As an RN at The Hand Institute, you will play a critical role in supporting patient care through triage, education, assisting physicians during evaluations and minor in-office procedures, and ensuring accurate follow-up on medications, test results, and treatment plans. This position is ideal for a nurse who values precision, collaboration, and a patient-centered approach within a highly specialized hand and upper extremity practice.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Support:
Provide comprehensive, high-quality care aligned with The Hand Institute's mission to restore function and relieve pain for patients with hand, wrist, and upper extremity conditions.
HIPAA Compliance:
Uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Clinical Support:
Collect vital signs, review patient histories, and maintain up-to-date medication lists. Identify chief complaints related to hand and upper extremity concerns and assist in evaluating patient conditions.
Medical Testing & Procedures:
Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as splinting, dressing changes, wound care, suture removal, and preparation for in-office injections or minor surgeries.
Assisting with Procedures:
Prepare sterile and non-sterile equipment, assist physicians during exams and in-office procedures, and provide patient support before, during, and after treatment.
Lab Specimen Collection:
Perform blood draws and collect lab specimens as needed, ensuring proper documentation and handling.
Medication Administration:
Administer prescribed medications and injections as directed, and monitor for any immediate patient reactions.
Patient Education:
Educate patients on diagnoses, post-procedure care, rehabilitation, splint care, surgical prep, and follow-up instructions to support recovery and outcomes.
Triage & Emergency Response:
Assess patient needs and prioritize care, including urgent hand injuries, infections, or post-op complications. Notify physicians of emergent issues and provide prompt support.
Documentation & Protocols:
Ensure all patient information is accurately entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). Assist in updating clinical protocols and patient care guidelines as needed.
Outcome Analysis & Reporting:
Support quality improvement initiatives by tracking and reporting outcomes related to patient care and treatment efficiency.
Billing & Reimbursement Support:
Ensure documentation meets billing standards and supports accurate and complete reimbursement for services provided.
Education & Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited nursing program required.

Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in orthopedics, surgical services, or a specialty clinic.
Certifications:

Current State Registered Nurse (RN) license required.

Current CPR certification required.
