Position Summary
Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to patients across the lifespan, from infant to geriatric (unless otherwise specified). Key responsibilities include:
• Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the healthcare needs of assigned patients
• Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to meet unit and hospital goals
• Delivering care in accordance with established clinical standards and best practices
• Willingness to float to comparable nursing units as needed

• Knowledge of general nursing theories and practices
• Strong management and teaching abilities
• Effective at motivating and supervising others
• Able to exercise initiative and independent action within nursing scope of practice
• Good clinical judgment and ability to evaluate alternatives in challenging situations
• Awareness of the critical nature of accurate order transcription, medication administration, treatments, and procedures
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Tact, diplomacy, and professionalism when interacting with physicians, patients, families, and staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
• Flexible to work irregular schedules, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Ability to assume the Charge Nurse role when required
Education & Certifications
• Current unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
• Completion of nursing service orientation program
• Attendance at IV Therapy training or demonstrated competency within one year
• Annual participation in Skills Fair and completion of required competency checklists
• Maintains competency and/or certifications specific to departmental requirements
• Current BCLS certification required; ACLS recommended
• Advanced certification in specialty areas and/or participation in professional nursing organizations encouraged
