Facility: East Cooper Medical Center

Position Type: CST- 12 week contract 
Work Schedule: Nights 


Position Summary
Under the direction of the nurse, the Surgical Tech assists with patient care, equipment operation and maintenance, and various clinical tasks to support the health care team. 

    • Assisting licensed staff and physicians within approved standards
    • Meeting the basic care needs of assigned patients
    • Providing care to patients from infant to geriatric populations, unless otherwise indicated
    • Collaborating with the healthcare team to achieve unit and hospital goals
    • Maintaining quality care based on established clinical guidelines
    • Willingness to float to other comparable nursing units, as requested
    • Assisting Obstetricians during surgical deliveries, including C-sections, using sterile techniques
    • Preparing instrument tables and surgical setups for delivery
    • Stocking and setting up the Operating Room
    • Documenting temperature and humidity in designated rooms daily
    • Stocking labor rooms and participating in monthly expiration checks
    • Validating the integrity of sterile instruments

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Graduate of an approved Operating Room Technician Course
    • Previous hospital experience preferred
    • Successful completion of the hospital service orientation program
    • Participation in annual Skills Fair and completion of yearly competency checklists
    • BCLS certification at hire or within orientation
