Novant Health Coastal Carolina Hospital (NHCCH) is a 41-bed acute care hospital located in Hardeeville, S.C., serving the medical and healthcare needs of Jasper and Beaufort counties since November 2004. Novant Health Hilton Head Medical Center (NHHHMC) is a 93-bed acute care hospital located on Hilton Head Island, S.C. Opened in 1974, NHHHC serves Hilton Head Island, Bluffton, Okatie and surrounding counties.
The Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of nursing and clinical ancillary services within their respective facility. This role requires strong clinical expertise, operational acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively with executive leaders, physician partners, and department managers to guide decision-making on healthcare services and organizational priorities. The CNO is accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care, in alignment with the Novant Health Cause. This includes aligning local nursing practices with system-wide standards and goals, driving continuous improvement, and fostering an environment of excellence and innovation. The CNO also plays a key role in the development and execution of strategic plans that elevate nursing practice and patient outcomes. This position requires effective leadership, strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to solve complex problems while maintaining fiscal responsibility and meeting or exceeding budget expectations. Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements (including JCAHO) is essential.
The VP, CNO reports directly to the facility President & COO, with a matrix reporting relationship to the Novant Health System Chief Nursing Officer. As a critical member of the facility’s executive leadership team, the CNO ensures alignment between facility operations and broader health system strategies for nursing excellence and clinical integration.
