Novant Health is seeking a PRN Perinatal Ultrasound Techto join our Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice, as part of the East Cooper Physician Group in Mount Pleasant and Georgetown, SC 

 

  • Schedule: PRN Opportunity - 2-3 days per week on average

 

As a Perinatal Ultrasound Tech at East Cooper MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine), you will provide diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in a high-riskOB setting. The diagnostic medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Records anatomical, pathological,and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician. 

  • Maintains electronic patient charts and records to processsonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the sonogram. 

  • Maintains patient information in the ultrasound documentation/reporting system, image storage system, and EMR (Electronic Medical Record). Obtains pertinent medical history from record prior to exams and prepares preliminary reports as requested by the physician. 

  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. 

  • Selects proper transducers, follows guidelines for probe handlingand adjusts equipment to optimizethe images usingthe available applications and options on the ultrasound machine, based on fetal position, anatomy, and depth of tissue characteristics. 

  • Recognizes equipment malfunctions and takes corrective action when possible. 

  • Explains medical studies and procedures to patientsso they are well informed onthe examination. 

  • Communicates effectively with patients and their families in patient care setting. 

  • Providesappropriate supportivepatient care during difficult situations. Demonstratesprofessionalism, flexibility,and responsiveness in handling customer interactions. 

  • Performs a variety of perinatal ultrasound procedures that usehigh frequency sound waves to evaluate internal organs and vessels for the diagnosis of disease in utero.  

  • Prepares exam room.  

  • Actively takes partin quality initiatives, including patient satisfaction, patient care, and workflow. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Education:High School Diploma/GED and Technical School Diploma Ultrasonography or Associates Degreein Diagnostic Medical Sonography 

  • Experience:Minimum of 2years clinical experience in perinatal/maternal fetal medicine setting. 

  • Licensure/Certification: Current state certification, licensureor license eligible in states where applicable. Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)certification. ECHO Certification preferred but not required 

  • Additional Skills: Experience performing first trimester exams, low-riskexams, detailed fetal anatomy surveys and guidance of chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis procedures.Ability to implement advanced imaging techniques when medically applicable (3D/4D).Knowledge of various sonography equipment and related applications.Ability to independently guide providerfor invasive procedures.Knowledge of using medical equipment including stethoscope, scales, andblood pressure cuff, etc.Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems.Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a clinic sufficientto provide effective patient care.  

  • Mental/Physical Requirements:Involves varied activities including standing, sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reachingRequires full range of body motion includinghandling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterityand eye-hand coordinationMust be able to use correct body mechanics to assistpatients appropriatelyAbility to lift and carry up to 50 poundsAbility to push or pull mobile equipment on casters up to 500 pounds.
