Crating (01) - Driver - Class A CDL - Prod Ops

Position Summary:
The main duty of this position is to drive trucks over 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight, or tow more than 10,000 lbs to deliver or transport customer products. Responsibilities include loading and unloading trucks, interfacing with customers, obtaining delivery orders and working with dispatch to ensure efficient and on-time deliveries.

Essential Functions:  

1. Transporting Products  
   1. Safely transporting products to customer sites. Most sites are warehouses or factories and will utilize loading docks for loading and unloading, but may be in other areas near customer site.
   2. Driving in congested traffic in both urban and rural areas.
   3. Acts as key company liaison by obtaining signatures on delivery orders and giving the signed delivery orders to dispatch or manager.
   4. Delivery route dependent on site--some sites are local pick up only
2.  Loading and Unloading
   1. Load and Unload trucks and trailers in a strategic and efficient way by use of forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
3. Pre and Post Trip
   1. Perform pre-trip truck inspections.
   2. Ensure safety by reporting all vehicle issues or accidents immediately.
   3. Responsible for clean truck presentation.
4. Safe and Efficient Facility Team Member
   1. Address and report all equipment defects or maintenance needs to maintain safe and efficient use. Follow all procedures, policies and know the equipment before using it.
   2. Speak up when observing something that may be unsafe or someone performing unsafe acts.
   3. Efficiently perform work according to standard operating procedures.
   4. Work together with other team members to accomplish tasks safely in a fast-paced production environment.

Marginal Functions:

Assisting with vehicle maintenance as directed.

Other duties as assigned.

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

• A minimum drivers age requirement of 23 years old.
• Ability to safely drive trucks with valid Commercial Motor Vehicle Operator’s license issued by only one state or jurisdiction.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 2 years verifiable commercial driving experience.
• Clean driving record with no more than 2 driving violations in the last three years and no commercial driving citations within the last three years. Driving record is monitored by Motor Vehicle Record tracking software. MVR should not include DUI’s or other serious violations.
• Ability to push and pull up to 75 pounds using pallet jack, or lift up to 50 pounds.
• Has passed the Physical Qualifications for drivers under 49 CFR 391.41.
• Can pass a Pre-Employment Drug and alcohol screening under DOT guidelines and provide negative specimens for random tests.
• Can, by reason of experience, training, or both, safely operate the type of commercial motor vehicle he/she drives.
• Forklift Certification preferred.
• Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public and customers, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
