Position: Production Supervisor

Department: Operations

Reporting Structure: Reports to Production Manager

Reporting to this Position: All Production Employees

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION

 

The primary function of this position is the management of production-related activities, including the hands-on management of all production-related personnel.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Confer with other managers/supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Read and analyze work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Direct, coordinate and assign the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as assembly, machine setters/operators and machine maintenance mechanics.
  • Provide training and instruction to all employees based on company policies, customer specifications and continuous compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Procedures).
  • Attend/coordinate management meetings with other departments to discuss/review current procedures and recommend the necessary changes to work methods or procedures.
  • Analyze and review current procedures and make recommendations for improvement, including the re-assignment or replacement of personnel to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Enforce all safety and housekeeping procedures.
  • Participate in the employee performance review process with the Production Manager and make recommendations.
  • Evaluate contract employee requirements and arrange for coverage when necessary.
  • Encourage and administer a philosophy of Lean Awareness and 5S manufacturing methods.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE

 

  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • Must have basic English oral, written and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
  • Organized and efficient in time management skills.
  • Ability to supervise and manage multiple priorities, effectively and efficiently.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

  • While performing duties of job, employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, bend, walk (for several hours of the workday) and use hands to handle objects, tools, and controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Employees may be required to lift/move objects exceeding 25lbs.  Use of vision for computer monitors and other related production equipment.

 

 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of hands-on supervisory experience within the cosmetics/personal care manufacturing industry is required.
