Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accountant processes journal entries and reconciles general ledger accounts to support the preparation of monthly financial statements. This role also prepares monthly analysis, assists with annual audits and supports business strategy.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare all monthly financial reports required to be filed with Corporate, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, net working capital, tax files, interest expenses and quarterly disclosure notes.
  • Complete month end close processes, prepare journal entries, close operating system, multiple currency consolidation and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly variance analysis reports for the designated sub-divisions, comparting to forecast and budget with the focal point of supporting decision making and forward looking activities.
  • Coordinate the preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare quarterly note disclosure and tax packages.
  • Perform technical research at the direction of the Controller to support the implementation of new accounting standards or the accounting for new transactions or business activities.
  • Prepare daily and monthly report including detailed Monthly Analysis and monthly prepayment statements to customer.
  • Maintain and setup stakeholder’s information such as address, banking information, contact, tax certificates.
  • Assist with indirect tax inquiries to provide supporting documents for indirect tax audit and respond to inquiries from the Indirect Tax team.
  • Coordinate documentation, testing and remediation of internal controls, and maintain appropriate documentation for CSOX certification.
  • Act as a liaison with external auditors during quarterly and year-end reviews and assist with the preparation of quarterly review and year-end audit documentation.
  • Assist Marketing as required in analyzing profitability and margins.
  • Assist Executive Management in analyzing profitability by line of business.

What you bring:

  • Post secondary education in Accounting.
  • CPA designation or working towards it.
  • 3-5 years practical experience in general accounting and/or financial reporting, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations and financial statements.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Knowledge of Hyperion, Azure Power BI, Right Angle and or Workday would be considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to reconcile multiple data sources, and assess a set of data for variances.
  • Strong, clear and persuasive communication skills, both oral & written
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interface with all levels of management.
